Statistics

After one year of providing my service (scanning UKVI's website few days a month for premium service appointments) there is enough data to do some statistical analysis. Within that time 3021 slots were detected, most of which are released after midnight for a date 42 days upfront.

Time until appointment

The chart below shows the number of days to the detected slot, i.e. difference in days between date when the slot appeared and date when the appointment is.

There are no appointments more than 42 days away, and more than half of them are exactly 42 days away.

The behaviour (duration of their availability, time of appearence) of slots within the next few weeks is differen from those more than a month away. Therefore the slots were split in two groups

  1. slots within the next 30 days (618 samples) and
  2. slots beyond the next 30 days (2403 samples).

Releasement time

The day/time when slots become available is not equally distributed over the week/day. You can find people mentioning that on forums (they spend days refreshing the site and saw slots which are too late for them) and my own experience confirms it.

Slots for appointments 42 days ahead appear regurally during the first hour after midnight (UK time), but might also appear around 10 AM.

Slots for appointments within the next few week are more difficult to predict, but they are more frequent around 10 AM and 3 PM. During these times they also stay longer available for booking.

Please notice that the values are in percent and that there are 4 times less slots for appointments within the next 30 days then beyond that.

Releasement day

Slots for appointments 42 days ahead appear in accordance with the working capacity of the centres, i.e. evenly distributed over the working week, less slots on Saturday and no slots on Sundays. But slots for appointments in the coming weeks appear in bursts during one or two days in a week. More frequently towards the end of the working week.

The chart below shows their distribution over the week. Thursday turned out to be the best day for securing a premium service appointment within the next few weeks.

Slot availability

People struggle to book premium service appointments because they go quickly. 14% are taken within the first 60 seconds. That's not much time to enter you credit card details. More than half of the slots for appointments 42 days ahead are taken within the first 10 minutes. For appointments in the next few weeks the duration is even shorter, 50% are taken within the first 6 minutes.

Please notice that the values are in percent and that there are 4 times less slots for appointments within the next 30 days then beyond that.
